VR Surgical Simulation Modules
The Challenge
Translating surgical techniques, device assembly, or nurse training into a realistic instructional VR simulation to bridge a gap in users training.
The Solution
Creating clinically accurate, engaging, and immersive VR training modules that allow users to practice, refine, and expand their skills. From everyday tasks to rare and complex procedures.
The Process
Needs Analysis & Collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs): Client discovery meetings would take place and internal discovery meetings to discuss feasibility and the project needs. Working with cross-functional teams of project manager, medical illustrator lead, engineering, internal sugical and nursing SMEs, and art would align on what is possible in the clients time to achieve their protect goal.
Content Development: Through client meetings, sugical techniques guides, surgical vidoes, and animations would guide the design of the project creating outline of the steps and interactions in the module. The design would tie into the learning objectives for the training that were discussed early on.
Each project would have storyboards and workflow charts outlining the techniques steps and project needs
Interactive Learning Elements: Cross team collaboration between art, engineering and developers would take place to create assets, Unity features, and technical needs for the specific project.
I have developed many surgical trainings in VR while at Osso VR. Since most projects were confidential, the following are genericized examples.
